Vision and History

Scientific Fire Services Pty Limited was launched in December 2003 by the two current principals of the company Mr Mahmut Horasan and Mr Russell Kilmartin. The core objective of the business was to provide Fire Safety and Risk Engineering consultancy service, fundamentally focusing on Australian commercial building industry. The relatively small team of engineers who joined the Company in 2003 possessed specialty knowledge covering the broad spectrum of scientific and professional disciplines within the field of fire safety in buildings.

Over time, the Melbourne based consultancy group extensively servicing the Australian commercial building industry grew both in scale and purpose. The principals of the company recognised the opportunities to reach into the South East Asia market and established sound professional relationships with associates in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Niche markets were created with the focus of the Company moving from a sole domestic role to a role encompassing international engineering consultancy. In 2005 the principals affirmed the Company’s presence in Hong Kong by opening an office which also incorporated local Fire Engineering professionals. This marked a true expansion of Scientific Fire Services Pty Limited from a single Melbourne office entity to a consolidated international engineering practice.

Associations with Australian Universities and other companies sharing the same vision and offering complementary services were instigated. This resulted in an expansion into South East Queensland and "Scientific Fire Services (Queensland and Northern Rivers) Pty Limited" was established in January 2007 reflecting similar culture and values.

By continuing to provide innovative, state of the art service and only joining forces with high quality trusted local and overseas professional associates the geographic boundaries have been transcended resulting in an exceptional array of project references throughout Australia and South East Asia.
