Newport Mosque, Melbourne
Fire safety engineering methodologies help to achieve a unique architectural design for Mosque in Melbourne's Western suburbs.
The Newport Mosque Complex is a project based on an architectural concept developed by the Pritzker Prize winning Australian architect Glenn Murcutt. It adopts a design which is not a clone of mosques constructed in other countries around the world but one which is uniquely Australian.

The proposed development is a mixed use Mosque and community/recreational facility. It consists of four main structures including the Mosque, the recreational and community centre, class rooms and the imam’s residence.
The project required fire safety engineering input from Scientific Fire Services Pty Ltd so it would be possible to stay as close as possible to the original architectural concept while ensuring the building code objectives and performance requirements are satisfied.
